About this site
ieg.earth is the website of International Environmental Guardianship (IEG), a global membership organisation led by Indigenous Peoples, Local Communities and Afro-Descendant peoples across seven socio-cultural regions.
In these terms, “we” and “us” mean the International Environmental Guardianship Data Trust, which also uses the short name IEG Data Trust. The Trust is a charitable trust board incorporated in New Zealand, and it operates this website on behalf of IEG, its members and its Regional Hubs. “You” means anyone who visits ieg.earth or uses it.
Agreeing to these terms
By using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the site.
Using the site
You may read, download and share material on this site for your own information and for non-commercial purposes, provided you do not alter it and you acknowledge IEG as its source.
You must not:
- use the site for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that breaches the rights of any person;
- interfere with the site, its security, or any network or system connected to it;
- harvest, scrape or systematically extract content, contact details or personal information from the site;
- misrepresent your identity or your authority to act for any person, community or organisation; or
- present yourself as speaking for IEG, or as holding a role within IEG, unless you do.
Information on this site
The site is published for general information. We take care with what we publish, but we do not warrant that the content is complete, accurate or current, and it should not be relied on as professional, legal or financial advice.
Where the site describes IEG’s governance, membership or structure, the IEG Statutes, the IEG Constitution, the IEG Data Trust Deed and the operational policies adopted by the Governance Assembly prevail over anything said on this site.
Who owns what is here
Unless stated otherwise, the content of this site is owned by IEG or licensed to it, and is held and stewarded on behalf of IEG and its Member Organisations by the IEG Data Trust.
The IEG name, logo and other marks may not be used without our prior written permission.
Some material carries its own licence or attribution requirement. Where it does, that notice governs.
Indigenous knowledge and cultural material
Some content on this site originates with Indigenous Peoples, Local Communities and Afro-Descendant peoples and remains theirs. Authority over that material rests with the communities it comes from, consistent with the CARE Principles for Indigenous Data Governance, Indigenous Data Sovereignty, and free, prior and informed consent.
Publication on this site does not place that material in the public domain and does not grant you a licence to it. You must not reproduce, adapt, commercialise, or use it to train or evaluate machine learning or artificial intelligence systems without the free, prior and informed consent of the community concerned. Requests may be sent to the address at the end of this page.
Forms and anything you send us
The site offers enquiry forms, expression of interest forms, pre-registration and newsletter subscription. When you use them you agree that the information you give is accurate and that you are entitled to provide it.
Personal information is handled as set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
If you send us an idea, document or other material that is not personal information, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to use it for the purpose you sent it for. Do not send us anything confidential that you do not want us to use in that way.
Links to other sites
The site links to websites operated by others, including Member Organisations and partner organisations. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or their privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
Availability of the site
We may change, suspend or withdraw the site or any part of it at any time, without notice. We do not guarantee that the site will be available or uninterrupted.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from reliance on anything published on it.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where those Acts apply and cannot be excluded.

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page is the one that applies, and the date below shows when it last changed. Please check it occasionally.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any matter arising from them.
